Visionary architect Silke Frank is the founder and principal of werkshop. Born and raised in Karlsruhe Germany as the daughter of a civil engineer and a clothing designer, Silke learned at an early age the balance between art and science. Silke, pronounced “silk-a” or as most people say “silk-y”, attended college in the United States where she graduated from California State Polytechnic University Pomona with a Bachelor of Architecture. As a licensed architect in the state of California, Silke has worked on a diverse number of residential, commercial and institutional projects throughout her 20-year career. Silke’s passion for design and love of the arts engages her both professionally and personally in a wide variety of artistic endeavors.
As founder and managing principal of werkshop, Chad Edgley oversees all projects from beginning to end, directing the tempo of the office and acting as its central hub for communications. A California native, Chad graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Minor in Art History. As a licensed architect in the State of California, Chad has worked on a diverse number of residential, commercial and institutional projects throughout his 14-year career. Chad’s attention to craft and detail were nurtured at an early age from his family’s construction and materials background. His firm belief that art and architecture are deeply rooted in the natural environment can be seen in his love for the outdoors - whether it’s hiking, skiing or growing his own food.
